Once you’ve been in a relationship, you and your ex have a history.

So you need to recognize that the techniques you used to attract your ex in the first place – such as flirting – won’t necessarily work when you try to get your ex back after a breakup.

Here are 4 breakup rules you should follow:

1. Don’t become a “friend” to your ex

Don’t misunderstand me here.

I don’t mean you ignore your ex. If you talk to your ex or bump into your ex you still remain cheerful, courteous, and positive – that will go a long way if you want to get back together.

But if you want to get your ex back, you don’t want to be seen as “a friend.” You want to be thought of as that special person in your ex’s life.

See the difference? It might be a subtle difference, but it’s a very important one if you want to get back together with your ex.

Sure, when you’re in a relationship you’re friends. But you don’t want to fall into the “friend zone” where your ex considers you “just a friend.”

2. No gifts
